About Me
Hi! My name is Annabelle, and I am a Spanish and International Health student at Clemson University. For me, health is more than just a career focus, it is something I am deeply passionate about and strive to integrate into my daily life. From the fun fact of how mincing garlic fights cancer to gaining a wilderness first aid certification, health is something I adore. This passion took on a whole new dimension when my professor shared the incredibly simple yet profound statement: Health is in everything and everywhere you look. It’s embedded in the deepest roots of everything we do.
I have been fortunate to intern for two summers at OneWorld Health, a nonprofit that establishes self-sustaining clinics in developing countries. This experience expanded my perspective beyond direct patient care, allowing me to see the importance of empowering communities by employing local doctors and nurses. Additionally, I have volunteered at the Barrier Island Free Medical Clinic on Johns Island, SC, where I assisted as a front desk attendant, answering phones and communicating with patients in both English and Spanish. This clinic, while staffed by volunteer physicians, also employs nurses and administrative staff to ensure comprehensive care to a large Hispanic community.

While I am still exploring the specific direction of my career, I am committed to making a meaningful impact in the world. The values of community-based efforts, cultural awareness, and empathy direct my ambitions. By embracing new opportunities and learning from each experience, I aim to channel my passion for health and service into a fulfilling career, ultimately striving to enhance the well-being of others, wherever my journey leads.

As I continue to grow both academically and personally, I am excited to explore diverse ways to contribute to global and local health initiatives. Whether working internationally or within my own community, I am dedicated to learning, evolving, and applying my passion for health in meaningful ways. Ultimately, my goal is to leave a lasting positive impact on others’ lives, driven by compassion, service, and cultural understanding.
